Cecil Sharp collected a dozen songs in the Hamstreet area, on the edge of Romney Marsh in Kent, in September 1908. The majority, including The Bold Fisherman, came from James Beale of Warehorne; I have supplemented the words from the Copper Family version.

A fine singer of traditional songs, and a leading exponent of the anglo-concertina.

Member of Oxfordshire group Magpie Lane and dance bands Geckoes, Chameleons and Oxford NAGS. He performs solo, and in a duo with fiddle-player Mat Green. He has also worked with Chris Wood, the Oyster Band and the Mellstock Band.
